Founded in 1981 on York Road in Cockeysville Maryland, Calvert assumed the space formerly occupied by York Lane Liquors, a somnolent liquor-oriented retail store established a few years earlier in one of northern Baltimore County’s fastest growing regions.

From its inception, Calvert’s focus has been on fine wine, expert service, and the broadest possible selection of wines, spirits, and malt beverages. Known as a source of prodigious and trustworthy advice, Calvert has produced a number of the mid-Atlantic’s most respected beverage authorities.

Always dedicated to fair pricing, Calvert moved two miles north to the newly opened Hunt Valley Towne Centre in August of 2005. Anchored by the largest Wegman’s supermarket in that company’s history, Hunt Valley Towne Centre has been an immediate and remarkable success from opening day. Similarly, Calvert’s new 10,000 square-foot, custom-designed facility, has been a huge hit with consumers, resulting in a full-service destination store catering to the needs of consumers in the entire Baltimore metropolitan area, including much of southern Pennsylvania.
